PITTSBURGH (Oct. 17, 2016) — More than 87,000 military veterans reside in the Pittsburgh area and thousands more are expected to transition to civilian life during the next few years making Pittsburgh their home.
Highmark Health recognizes these men and women are an asset to the workforce because they are highly trained with vast knowledge and unique skillsets. To take advantage of this tremendous opportunity, we are increasing our community engagement and strengthening our talent acquisition strategy, with the goal of being a destination career choice for military veterans, transitioning military, and their spouses.
At the Recruit Military job fair on Thursday, October 20 at Heinz Field from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Highmark Health will have talent management team members available at its career booth to discuss job opportunities with military veterans and spouses. Members from our Veterans Business Resource Group comprised of military veterans working at Highmark will also be available to speak with those who stop by our booth.
Larry Kleinman, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Highmark Health comments, "This sponsorship is a great opportunity for Highmark Health to exhibit its commitment to hiring military veterans and their spouses, while affording us the chance to create a stronger culture of inclusion and participation in the workplace.
We are proud to serve as the primary sponsor of this event and I am personally eager to meet military veterans and spouses who stop by our booth to discuss new initiatives we are implementing to position Highmark Health as their workplace of choice."
