For our customers: Team members such as Katie
"I know that some of our members may not fully understand that the condition of their mouth can have an impact on the rest of their body," explained Katie Mace, a United Concordia Dental oral wellness consultant based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. "They may not realize how inflammation in the mouth caused by gum disease can negatively impact their health in other ways, especially if they have a chronic condition like diabetes or heart disease.
"My personal goal—and a key part of United Concordia's missionis to help members understand that when it comes to overall health and well-being, oral health is just as important as healthy eating, regular visits to your doctor, exercise and stress management.
"There's not just one magic solution. It all works together," Katie emphasized.
Through customized enrollment sessions, health fairs, webinars, on-site meetings and more, Katie educates members every day about their dental benefits and the important connection between oral and overall wellness. "I answer health-related questions, provide information about healthier choices and help members take full advantage of their dental coverage and our self-service tools," explained Katie.
Continuously emphasizing the connection between oral health and overall health is a key way in which United Concordia is getting health care right. And one of the ways that United Concordia accomplishes that is through its dedicated team members like Katie.
"I’m proud to work for United Concordia and to be part of a team that is committed to connecting our members to a life of better health, overall," concluded Katie.
