Our dedication to serving each and every customer goes hand in hand with our commitment to meeting the needs of the communities where we operate. Each year, Highmark Health and our affiliates, including our affiliated foundations, collectively provide millions of dollars to support stronger communities of healthier people. We live by the truth that we have a responsibility to give back, reinvest, and ensure that those communities remain as strong and healthy as possible.

Along with our corporate giving, our signature programs like the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community and our employee volunteerism and philanthropy, including our strong support of United Way programs, and diversity and inclusion efforts help ensure that Highmark Health acts and interacts in a vital, vibrant manner on behalf of our community.

We are proud of our decades-long legacy of corporate giving and excited about our renewed focus on employee volunteerism, which benefits hundreds of organizations across our service area and enhances the outcomes achieved through our careful and deliberate distribution of dollars and cents.

Highmark Health also provides significant charity and uncompensated care, including health coverage for those deemed to be unable to pay for services, funding for programs for the treatment and prevention of disease or injury, and funding for the prevention of conditions, behavior or activities that are adverse to good health. Beneficiaries include community health oriented programs for many charitable organizations, community hospitals and other healthcare providers in our core markets. Additionally, these funds support the missions of both the Highmark Foundation and the Caring Foundation as well as insurance programs offered by Highmark for low-income members.
