Highmark Health earns Gallup Culture Transformation Award

Highmark Health was one of two organizations recognized by a new Gallup Culture Transformation Award in 2020. The award notes Highmark Health's work with Gallup to establish "four Core Behaviors to create a workforce that is engaged, aligned and inspired. With leadership buy-in and role modeling, clear definitions, goal setting and continuous listening efforts through census and pulse surveys, leadership has gained a measurable understanding of the organization's alignment with the Core Behaviors."

Two Highmark Health leaders make "Women of Distinction" list

Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania recognized two Highmark Health leaders on its 2020 "Women of Distinction" list. In the Law category, the award went to Carolyn Duronio, Highmark Health executive vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary. In the Health Care category, the award went to Terese LaVallee, director of Highmark Caring Place.

No. 1 ranking in Overall Customer Satisfaction with Medicare Advantage Plans in Pennsylvania, West Virginia

The J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Medicare Advantage Study ranked Highmark's affiliated Medicare Advantage Plans in Pennsylvania and West Virginia as No. 1 nationally for Medicare Advantage plan overall satisfaction, while improving its overall score. The study measures member satisfaction with Medicare Advantage plans based on six factors: coverage and benefits; provider choice; cost; customer service; information and communication; and billing and payment. Highmark's plans ranked No. 1 in three of the six factors: provider choice, cost, and customer service.

Highmark Blue Shield named Corporate Citizen of the Year

Highmark Blue Shield was named Corporate Citizen of the Year by the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC in the 2020 Catalyst Awards. The annual awards program recognizes visionary, dynamic leaders and organizations creating change in the Harrisburg region. Highmark Blue Shield's nomination showcased its proactive and innovative efforts in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, including coverage expansions, increased options to access care, support for its communities, providers, and customers, and providing resources to access testing and information to ensure that its members, employees, and communities can continue to prioritize wellness.

Highmark Inc. named "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality"

Highmark Inc. earned distinction as a "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality" from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in 2020 in recognition of its supportive and inclusive culture for LGBTQ+ employees. Highmark qualified for the award for the first time by receiving the top score of 100 points in the 2017 national Corporate Equality Index, which benchmarks corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ+ employees, helping businesses to compare themselves to those that are leaders in diversity and inclusion.

United Concordia Dental recognized as Military Friendly® employer

A leading veterans' organization, VIQTORY, named United Concordia Dental to its 2021 Military Friendly® Employers List. The list recognizes companies for hiring military veterans and their spouses, including members of the National Guard and Reserve. VIQTORY has published the Military Friendly Employers List since 2003. The organization analyzed public and government data sources and surveyed more than 8,800 employers nationwide to compile the 2021 list.

United Concordia Dental listed as a Best-In-State Employer in Pennsylvania

Forbes ranked United Concordia as No. 15 out of 100 businesses in the state. This award is a testament to its commitment to its employees and culture that prioritizes recognition, inclusion, and family. Forbes worked with Statista to survey over 80,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees.

HM Insurance Group companies' A ratings reaffirmed by AM Best Company

HM Life Insurance Company, HM Life Insurance Company of New York, and Highmark Casualty Insurance Company were assigned an A rating by AM Best, a global credit rating agency that focuses on the insurance industry. The ratings reflect the level of each company's financial strength and stability.

AHN's West Penn Hospital named one of nation's 100 Top Hospitals

West Penn Hospital was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by IBM Watson Health in 2020, the second year in a row it received the honor. The report spotlights the top-performing hospitals in the U.S., based on a scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational, and patient satisfaction data; West Penn was one of just two hospitals in the Pittsburgh area to be named to the 100 Top Hospitals list.

AHN hospitals recognized for exceptional stroke care

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognized six AHN hospitals for the high quality of their stroke programs. Allegheny General, Allegheny Valley, Forbes, Jefferson, and Saint Vincent hospitals each received the AHA/ASA Gold Plus Achievement Award, while West Penn Hospital earned Silver Plus. The AHA/ASA recognition program is intended to improve quality of care and outcomes for stroke patients by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines.

Modern Healthcare magazine selected AHN President and CEO Cynthia Hundorfean as one of the nation's 100 most influential health care leaders in 2020. The magazine's annual recognition program honors top health care executives and political leaders who are influencing health care policy and care delivery models across the country.

HMHS earns 2020 Power of Work Award

HMHS was recognized as a winner in the Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania 2020 Power of Work Awards, which honor employers and organizations for their efforts to hire and help individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers. The award recognized HMHS' partnership with Computer Aid, Inc.'s Autism2Work program in bringing individuals on the autism spectrum meaningful full-time employment.

For the sixth consecutive year, Highmark Health earned a top score of 100 points across index criteria, and was once again recognized as a leader among the record-breaking 201 entries.
