A national commitment to community impact
HM Insurance Group employees volunteered for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pittsburgh Light the Night Walk, which helps to fund research, advocacy, and support for blood cancer patients and their families. The team assembled thousands of lanterns that illuminated the night to show hope and support for those affected by blood cancer.
HM Insurance Group, a stop loss carrier that provides protection against the financial impact of catastrophic medical claims, sees firsthand the debilitating effects of severe medical conditions and is committed to making a meaningful, positive impact in the communities where it operates.
Throughout 2024, the company and its employees provided financial support and many hours of volunteerism to a variety of causes, and the Corporate Giving Team directed $315,500 to 48 charitable organizations across the nation.
Many employees, family members, and clients are directly affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D), so HM Insurance Group sponsored the Breakthrough T1D Walk in Pittsburgh. A passionate group of employees formed a team to support the walk's mission to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes.
"My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2020 at the age of seven," said Christy Faith, excess risk managed care clinician, HM Insurance Group. "Living with T1D is challenging, requiring constant vigilance and self-management. I am so proud that our company was a sponsor of the Breakthrough T1D Walk. I am incredibly grateful for the employees who joined our walk team and supported this very important cause."
Aligning community support with its business focus, HM Insurance Group provides significant backing to nonprofit organizations that help to improve conditions that result in catastrophic medical expenses organizations that support research, provide patient advocacy, and build awareness. For example, cancer is the top diagnosis category for the claims over $1 million that HM Insurance Group pays. To help make a difference, the company provided support to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in their work to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients by sponsoring LLS Light the Night Walks in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Manhattan, Buffalo, and Omaha.
HM Insurance Group also steps up when devastation, such as natural disasters, happens across the country. The company has employees, partners, and customers who live and do business in Florida and North Carolina, so when hurricanes made their way through these regions, the Corporate Giving team directed support to organizations that provide crucial aid to those affected, donating $25,000 each to Feeding Tampa Bay and Samaritan's Purse.
