Allegheny Health Network
In 2018, Allegheny General Hospital was one of 25 hospitals in the United States and the only hospital in Pennsylvania to perform surgeon-controlled, computer-assisted shoulder replacement surgery using a new technology called ExactechGPS.
Forbes Hospital in Monroeville celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018, and in the years since its May 1, 1978 opening, the hospital has continually demonstrated its commitment to excellence, growth, innovation, and compassionate care focused on the community's needs.
AHN's four labor and delivery units — at West Penn, Saint Vincent, Jefferson, and Forbes hospitals — delivered more than 7,700 babies in 2018, and, since 2013, the number of births at AHN hospitals has grown by 60 percent. In 2018, AHN announced that it would be building a fifth obstetrical unit at AHN Wexford Hospital, which is now under construction.
