Overview

The seven charitable foundations affiliated with Highmark Health, including five Allegheny Health Network hospital foundations and Highmark Inc.'s two foundations, have long and proud histories of funding programs that improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for individuals in the communities we are privileged to serve.

The seven foundations are identified below.

Highmark Inc.:

  • Highmark Caring Foundation
    Funded primarily by Highmark Inc., its sole member, the Highmark Caring Foundation supports the Highmark Caring Place, A Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families. More information at www.highmarkcaringplace.com.
  • Highmark Foundation
    With support from Highmark Inc., its sole member, the Highmark Foundation funds programs that promote the health and well-being of the communities served by Highmark Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. More information at www.highmarkfoundation.org.

Allegheny Health Network:

  • Allegheny Health Network Charitable Foundations:
    Alle-Kiski Medical Center Trust, Forbes Health Foundation, Saint Vincent Hospital Foundation for Health and Human Services, Suburban Health Foundation and Western Pennsylvania Hospital Foundation support initiatives associated with their hospital facilities to better meet the needs of their communities. In addition to the foundation story featured in this section, other highlights from 2018 included the Highmark Foundation awarding more than $400,000 in grants to over 80 schools across Pennsylvania and West Virginia to make schools healthier places for children.

"In 2018, Highmark Health and its subsidiaries and affiliates invested more than $28 million in health, human services, the arts, education, and economic development across our enterprise," said Evan Frazier, senior vice president of Community Affairs. "This investment is just part of our commitment to our members, customers, patients, and their communities at large."

Highmark Inc. provided over $11 million in grants and sponsorships in Pennsylvania to support nonprofit organizations in health, human services, the arts, education, and economic development.

Highmark Foundation provided nearly $3 million in funding in 2018 to support initiatives that educate and improve the overall well-being of the communities served by Highmark Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Allegheny Health Network provided over $1 million in funding in 2018 to support community health and economic development initiatives to improve the overall well-being of the communities served by Allegheny Health Network across its campuses.
