Cultural evolution and a reaffirmed commitment to diversity — centered around a Customer First approach — were top of mind in 2022 when HM Health Solutions rebranded as enGen. Reflecting its transformation to an innovative healthtech company, enGen operates a dynamic technology ecosystem that empowers its health plan clients to better care for their members.

Mick Malec, enGen CEO and Enterprise Technology and Operations officer, commented, "enGen's dynamic healthtech ecosystem works to bring structure, process, and simplicity to complex operational tasks for health plans and their provider partners. From technology, to people, to process, we are the engine that drives results."

With a strong focus on the importance of diversity and inclusion, enGen emphasizes that all its people play an essential role in driving forward clients' strategic business objectives. Recognizing that diverse talent furthers the goal of powering the future of healthtech, enGen also launched the Highmark Career Academy, a program providing technical training to young professionals in underrepresented communities to help them develop and hone critical skills in business, technology, data analytics, and beyond. According to Malec, "This program gives folks from the community, regardless of their background or education, the opportunity to have a career in information technology (IT), opening the doors to transformative health IT roles throughout our organization."

As it goes back to market in 2023, enGen has shown itself to be a forward-thinking healthtech company whose rebrand only furthered the organization’s commitment to both its people and its clients.
