Highmark Health earns Gallup Culture Transformation Award

For the second consecutive year, Highmark Health was one of two organizations recognized by the Gallup Culture Transformation Award. The award notes Highmark Health's work with Gallup to establish "four Core Behaviors to create a workforce that is engaged, aligned, and inspired. With leadership buy-in and role modeling, clear definitions, goal setting and continuous listening efforts through census and pulse surveys, leadership has gained a measurable understanding of the organization's alignment with the Core Behaviors."

Highmark Health CEO David Holmberg named to Outstanding CEOs list

The Pittsburgh Business Times (PBT) named David Holmberg, CEO, Highmark Health, to its annual list of Outstanding CEOs and Top Executives. In addition to recognizing Holmberg's leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic, PBT noted Highmark Health's many achievements during the same period, including an affiliation with two Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in New York, launching long-term collaborations with Google Cloud and Verily, forging a 10-year joint venture with ChristianaCare, gaining full ownership of Gateway Health, spinning off a new consultancy called Lumevity, and expanding the number of hospitals in the organization's health system.

Highmark Health earns WELL Health-Safety Rating at six locations

Highmark Health earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for six properties the organization directly manages. The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement, and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.

Highmark Inc. earns top marks in Human Rights Campaign’s 2021 Corporate Equality Index for fourth consecutive year

Highmark Inc. received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation's foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Highmark's efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria also earned a designation as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

Highmark receives Blue Cross Blue Shield Association award for Brand Innovation

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield earned the BCBSA award for Brand Innovation, which recognizes an innovative program providing measurable impact to customers and the brand. Highmark has been recognized for the Two-Way Secure Mobile Messaging program, which delivered an easily accessible communications channel to better reach high-risk members who previously could not be reached. The program significantly grew during the COVID-19 pandemic and has achieved more than $1 million in cost savings.

Highmark Western and Northeastern New York Inc. makes Forbes' Best Mid-Sized Employer list

Organizations named to Forbes' America’s Best Mid-Size Employers list have risen to the occasion during a global pandemic, adapting to benefit both their customers and employees. In 2021, Highmark Western and Northeastern New York Inc. was named to this prestigious list. Forbes partners with research firm Statista to survey 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own.

Dr. Donald Whiting named one of 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives

Dr. Donald Whiting, AHN's chief medical officer, was named one of Modern Healthcare's 2021 50 Most Influential Executives. Along with Dr. Whiting, 2021's honorees include Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and chief medical advisor to President Biden, and Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, MD, the U.S. Surgeon General, among many other representatives of leading U.S. health systems.

AGH kidney transplant program earns top regional, state results

Allegheny General Hospital has the best one-year survival rate and transplant rate among adult kidney transplant programs in Pennsylvania, according to 2021 data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients. AGH is one of 19 adult kidney transplant programs in the state.

AHN Jefferson Hospital earned Magnet® Recognition in 2021, the nation's highest honor for nursing excellence. Jefferson is one of only 9% of hospitals — out of more than 6,300 nationwide — to achieve this recognition, a testament to its dedication to high-quality nursing practice.

The Disability Equality Index® is a leading national benchmark established jointly by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. For the seventh consecutive year, Highmark Health earned a top score of 100 points across index criteria, and was once again recognized as a leader among 319 participants.

Gloria Romeo represents HMHS at Tech 50 Awards

Honoring the fastest growing, most innovative tech companies in the Pittsburgh region, HM Health Solutions' Gloria Romeo, senior vice president, Product and Development, presented an award in the Medtech and Health IT category at the 2021 Tech 50 Awards. She emphasized the importance that health care tech plays in sparking positive change throughout our local community and around the globe.

HMHS and Highmark Health bring on 34 full-time hires from Bender Consulting

In honor of the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Highmark Health committed to hiring 31 full-time employees with disabilities. In solidarity with this commitment, throughout 2021, HM Health Solutions (HMHS) offered competitive employment to 27 full-time hires through its partnership with Bender Consulting. Close collaboration between Highmark Health, Highmark Inc., and HMHS resulted in a total of 34 full-time hires, exceeding the goal. New hires were matched to jobs that met their skillsets, ensuring that both they and their skills have an opportunity to thrive in the field of health care technology.

HM Life Insurance Company, HM Life Insurance Company of New York, and Highmark Casualty Insurance Company were assigned an A rating by AM Best, a global credit rating agency that focuses on the insurance industry. The ratings reflect the level of each company’s financial strength and stability.
