A complex pre-bill rule interrupting claims processing. Health plan members at risk for higher-than-average costs. A pandemic disrupting provider payments.

In each case, an underlying and undiscovered business process was limiting team members' ability to do their best, most purposeful work. The solution for this and other challenges was thinkUP — an enterprise-wide transformation program at Highmark Health that is fueling its shift into one of the largest integrated health care delivery and financing systems in America.

Now those same capabilities are being offered to other companies as Lumevity. An indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Highmark Health, Lumevity is leveraging the real-world thinkUP experience to free other organizations to fulfill their purpose.

Overall, thinkUP has resulted in nearly $500 million of direct bottom-line impact, tangible economic value, and 8 million employee hours freed in its first three years.

  • For the complex pre-bill rule, implementing an Agile methodology made legacy rules smaller and more focused, resulting in a 40% reduction of work and $400,000 annual projected savings.
  • For health plan members, machine learning predicted which patients were most at risk for care management and identified the highest complexity patients early and accurately to improve care, saving $56 million.
  • For the COVID-19 claim payments challenge, a bot developed to automate processing of COVID-19-related procedure codes resulted in faster processing of approximately 318,000 claims in just two months.

Launched in the summer of 2021, Lumevity is partnering with companies to drive transformation quickly and effectively with ready-to-deploy, integrated capabilities centering on organization effectiveness, automation solutions, agile approaches, ideation solutions, readiness and adoption, and employee activation.

Lumevity fills capability and capacity gaps quickly to get its partners on the path to eliminating inefficiencies, creating new revenue opportunities, inspiring and enabling teams to do innovative work, and delivering enhanced outcomes for customers.
