PITTSBURGH (July 29, 2024) — Highmark Health and affiliate Highmark Inc. announced today appointments to and retirements from their boards of directors, effective immediately.
Joining the Highmark Health board of directors is Nish Vartanian, current chairman and retired president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Mine Safety Appliances (MSA), a manufacturer and supplier of safety equipment that protects people and facility infrastructures. Mr. Vartanian has spent more than 35 years with the company, serving in a variety of roles of increased responsibility and overseeing MSA’s largest business segment in North America, Mexico and Latin America. He also led MSA’s integration of California-based General Monitors, the company’s largest acquisition. In addition to his responsibilities at MSA, Mr. Vartanian serves of the Board of Trustees for the Manufacturers Alliances for Productivity and Innovation, International Associates of Firefighters Foundation, and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.

Gina Clark, executive vice president and chief business and communications officer at AmerisourceBergen Corporation, one of the world’s largest providers of global healthcare solutions, is joining the Highmark Inc. board of directors. Ms. Clark has more than 25 years of experience across a broad range of health care organizations, from post-acute services to global manufacturers. She has led brand transformations, enhanced operational performance and prioritized providing access to care for globally underserved communities.
Lynn McKee, retired executive vice president, human resources at Aramark, is also joining the Highmark Inc. board of directors. Ms. McKee has served in this role for 10 years, responsible for all human resource issues affecting the 255,000 employees at Aramark including compensation, benefits, recruiting and staffing, and labor and employee relations. She joined Aramark in 1980, increasing responsibility and making significant impact to the company the last four decades.

Mark Kamlet, university professor of economics and public policy, chair of the Graduate Committee and provost emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, retired from the Highmark Inc. board after 11 years of service. Highmark Health and Highmark Inc. thank Mr. Kamlet for his dedication and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
