Business Highlights: HVHC Distribution & Manufacturing

Overview

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, HVHC is the parent company for an integrated vision solutions company with three main lines of business including Davis Vision, which provides managed vision care benefits, Visionworks, with more than 650 retail optical stores and HVHC Distribution & Manufacturing, which fabricates eyewear and is the focus here.

The fourth largest finisher of lenses in the U.S., HVHC Distribution & Manufacturing comprises five state-of-the-art manufacturing laboratories where it fabricated more than 4.6 million pairs of eyeglasses for Visionworks and Davis Vision customers in 2014. The labs are located in New York, Pennsylvania and Texas, with two distribution centers located in Texas. Approximately 1,000 associates, both union and non-union, support the manufacturing and distribution operations.

HVHC's overarching goal in 2014 was to continue to strive for customer service excellence by focusing on people and process. "People are the foundation of our business," said John Kay, executive vice president of HVHC Distribution & Manufacturing. "And we want to provide the right tools and processes to engage our associates and continue to achieve the highest level of quality for our customers."

Among HVHC's business highlights in 2014 were raising the bar on quality in labs; building a new Richland Hills, Texas, facility, which incorporates the latest technologies; and increasing recognition of people as the foundation to success.
