Community Highlights: Health Plans

Overview

For 75 years, Highmark Inc., its affiliated health plans and their predecessor companies have upheld a tradition of service to the communities in which they operate. Today, Highmark health plans fund, support and inspire good health by providing millions of dollars of financial support, countless hours of in-kind support and an overarching commitment to corporate responsibility. These contributions aim to create healthier communities and ultimately, healthier people.

Along with its corporate giving, Highmark health plans also support the community through signature programs, and they continue to take visible and actionable steps to promote a more diverse workforce and greater environmental stewardship.

Over the past year, Highmark health plans provided support to hundreds of organizations in their service areas and touched the lives of thousands of individuals. Among their 2014 community highlights were empowering women to be healthy through the Fun, Fit and Fabulous conference; addressing the shortage in primary care physicians in rural Pennsylvania communities; and expanding the annual Walk for a Healthy Community event to the state of Delaware.
