Nonprofit organizations awarded safety grants

As a workers' compensation carrier, HM Insurance Group works with many nonprofit organizations to help them to manage their claims, institute loss control programs and keep their workplaces safe. In 2014, the organization awarded safety grants to 15 non-profit groups in Pennsylvania including ARC Human Services, Milestone Centers and A Second Chance. These grants provided funding for equipment and workplace enhancements that will improve the safety of their employees.

The safety grant program was introduced in 2012 as an HM Insurance Group corporate giving initiative, and over the past three years, $120,000 has been directed to non-profit organizations with a documented safety risk that can be mitigated through equipment upgrades or additions.

Grants fund and enable improvements such as devices for lifting patients, door locking controls, security equipment updates, rehabilitation shower upgrades and slips and falls prevention.
